I Hate Satan!

...but then again, every Christian does....eventhough at times we live as though he is our best friend and confidant. Anyway, I'm just feeling the need to vocalize my hatred for him. He seems to really be in the works around here these days; trying in every way possible to cause mischief. Our church is doing well: faithful members, good servants of the Lord, visitors nearly every service, growing in SS & bus ministry. You name it, the Lord is working in it. But just as He is working, the enemy is working as well. I want all of the church members who may read this to know that your pastor and his family is praying for the members of Victory Baptist Church and that we will not sit idly by and watch Satan try to destroy, discourage or dismay. Let's join forces and get a hold of God. Let's make Him preeminent. Let's give Him His due honor. Let's love Him with all that we have!

We've had revival services this week. Notice the wording 'revival services', not 'revival'. Why, because no one can make you have 'revival'. Revival is a personal matter and begins in the heart of a person. One person could have revival or the whole church could have revival. Our prayer was that these special services would be a way for the Lord to really speak to hearts and change hearts.
I have mentioned before that Dr. Jerry Siler of Cornerstone Baptist Temple in Dayton, OH was preaching. I have really enjoyed his preaching this week. He has such a passion for souls. His tears are real; you can see the power of God all over him. Although I have appreciated all of his preaching, to me, what really makes a good preacher/pastor is who he is when not behind the pulpit. And believe me, he is truly a man of God. He took the time to learn my children's names and show them attention, always calling each by name and spending a few moments with each. Moms notice things like that. He was sure to converse with everyone at church. I admire a man of God who is just as full of the Spirit in day to day life as he is in the pulpit.

Church Family

Today we took the Sunday School teaching shopping ($50 each) at Mardel Christian Bookstore! It was great being able to let the teachers go through and pick out things for their classes! They had a ball. It was like Christmas for them.
But I just have to say how much I enjoyed being with church family. We always have such a great time together. Fellowship is sweet! Anyway, nothing else to report. Just want to brag on wonderful teachers whose hearts are for the Lord!

Going Bald for Bibles

That's right. My husband decided to shave his head if our church raised enough money to buy 300 Bibles for the Beams Bible Day (Feb. 1) Well, of course our church did so, in fact, more so! So Sunday night, Mrs. Willie Jo got out the clippers...and zip, it's all gone. I don't have a pic yet, but I will.....and I will post it!!!!
We had such an amazing church service Sunday night as well. I love those services where the Spirit of God makes Himself so evident in the midst of us! God spoke, the Holy Spirit convicted, Jesus was lifted up, Saints were edified.....it was just wonderful! Thank God for a church who loves the Lord and one another!!! And thank God for my husband who is sensitive to the Holy Spirit, even when he's lead to do things a little different!

"....I'll never live in Texas again"

Never say never. Michael and I have lived in Texas once before from 1997 - 2000. We were there for seminary. We loved the people, but hated being away from home (Florida). We were in Ft. Worth and hated the chaos of the city. (We're just country folk) So, we have always said that we never left anything in Texas....in other words, we didn't plan to go back. Maybe to visit but certainly not to stay.

While an evangelist, Michael had gone out to Burnet, TX to sing for a revival. A couple of months later we get a call to fill the pulpit while that same church looked for a pastor. It was a hard decision for us. We didn't know what to do. The Lord had been slowing closing the door in evangelism, but we were unsure of what He was doing in our lives. Michael accept the 'temporary' call to fill the pulpit, but I was quick to say, "We'll stay long enough to get them back on their feet, then we're headed back to Georgia!"

On scene, we find a congregation of people who made us feel at home. It was easy stepping into the position, yet we were hesitant. It was as if we had known these people all of our lives. Loving them came easy. Michael began to just show the people love and compassion and before you know it, they had become 'our flock'. We surely didn't mean for this to happen, but the Lord did. yet we kept these feelings to ourselves. We continued to have in candidate preachers and were encouraging the church in finding a pastor quickly yet prayerfully. But with every candidate, there was something inside (yes, the Holy Spirit) saying, "This is where you need to be." Many of the people had already shown their interest for us to stay and for Michael to take the position as pastor. After 2 months, we finally said yes to the Lord and put our name in for the position as pastor. Needless to say, we were voted in unanimously.

So, we have moved back to Texas, purchased our first home and are continuing in the Lord's work at Victory Baptist Church. I couldn't be happier.

Aren't Sundays just wonderful? The Lord gave us another great time around His Word yesterday. We were blessed by new & old visitors. The pews were full, the singing was refreshing, and the preaching was tremendous! The Lord surely spoke to my heart and reminded me, "Don't worry...I see you" Just as the disciples were out on the boat and they were toiling with rowing; Jesus saw them. And even when I feel that I am toiling with rowing, Jesus sees me. There is never a time that His eyes are not on me. What a wonderful reminder!

We have really been promoting our soul winning/visitation on Thursday nights. I am so excited for this new year. I have spent much time today in prayer; asking the Lord to send us to the right homes and use our mouths to tell others of Him. I am so excited about what the Lord has in store for our church this year. Last year was a tough one for them....we are ready now to move on and see great things accomplished for our Lord!
